On July 8, 2025, at approximately 3:20 PM, the fire department responded to a report of a semi-truck fire near I-694 and Zane Avenue. Upon arrival, crews found that straw bales on the trailer were actively burning.

Due to the challenging nature of the fire and the lack of a water supply on the highway, the incident required substantial resources. Mutual aid was provided by the Osseo, Maple Grove, Brooklyn Center, Rogers, Plymouth, and West Metro fire departments. Water tankers were brought in to support suppression efforts.

The operation lasted several hours, and eastbound traffic on I-694 was reduced to one lane throughout much of the afternoon and evening. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The incident did attract media attention due to the fire's visibility and traffic impact.
