APD News Release- Asheville Police Investigating Three Gun Discharge Incidents
Asheville, NC (June 17, 2025): Asheville Police are investigating three separate gun discharges that occurred this weekend. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported in any of the incidents, only property damage.
The first incident took place on June 14th. Officers responded around 1:35 a.m. to Lee Garden Lane to investigate a report of a gun discharge. Upon arrival, they discovered 18 shell casings and damage to two apartments and three vehicles.
In the second incident, officers responded to reports of a gun discharge involving opposing parties on Future Drive around 9:01 p.m. on June 15th. When officers arrived, the suspects had already fled the scene. While canvassing the area, officers located 25 shell casings, damage to three vehicles, and one apartment.
Detectives are investigating a possible connection between the two incidents.
In the third incident, officers responded to the 100 block of South French Broad Avenue around 4:07 a.m. on June 16th. Once on scene, through investigation, officers were able to get a description of the man who discharged a gun, and his possible location. Officers made contact with a man fitting the description behind a nearby building, later identified as Stanley Wells (12/09/90), and took him into custody. Located nearby was the firearm used in the incident.

Discharge Firearm Within City Limits
Wells was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under NO BOND (ineligible for release) due to the Pretrial Integrity Act by a magistrate.
