Shooting Suspect Arrested in New York

The Atlantic City Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit
investigation led to the arrest of a New York man involved in a shooting.
On May 3, 2025 at 2:11 PM, patrol officers responded to the
1500 block of Baltic Avenue for a report of man shot. The victim, 52, of Atlantic City, was
transported by an associate to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City
Division, to be treated for a non-life-threatening injury before officers
arrived.
Through an investigation, detectives were able to learn that
the victim and Edwin Biggs, who are acquainted, were involved in a verbal
dispute. During the dispute, Biggs shot
the victim. After the shooting, Biggs
fled to New York.
On May 6, members of the New York Police Department and United
States Marshals Service NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force- Atlantic City
Division arrested Biggs in Brooklyn, NY.
ARRESTED: Edwin Biggs,
51, of Brooklyn, NY.
CHARGES: Attempted
homicide, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an
unlawful purpose, aggravated assault (three counts), and certain person not to
possess a weapon.
Biggs is being held at a New York correctional facility
awaiting extradition. These charges are
merely an accusation and not proof of guilt. In all criminal cases, a charged
defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
