Unlawful Use of a Weapon

On May 03, 2025, at about 10:00 p.m., officers with the Cape Girardeau Police Department responded to the north downtown parking lot in reference to a weapon violation. Prior to officers arriving on the scene, the suspect vehicle had left the area. Officers located the vehicle in the area of S. Park and Independence St. and conducted a traffic stop. Two adults and two juveniles occupied the vehicle.

 

The driver of the vehicle was identified as A’Tyren Daso (18) of Murfreesboro, Tn.  Daso improperly identified himself to officers multiple times. Officers were able to utilize a fingerprint scanner to positively identify Daso.

 

The front passenger was identified as Abigail Thompson (18) of Cape Girardeau, MO. Thompson was observed drinking alcohol while in the downtown parking lot and pointing a firearm at a juvenile.

 

During a search of the vehicle, officers located two bottles of alcohol along with a .40 caliber handgun with an extended magazine. The firearm was loaded and capable of deadly force. A further investigation revealed the firearm was previously reported stolen from another jurisdiction.

 

Daso was transported to the Cape Girardeau Police Department and formally charged through the Cape Girardeau County Prosecutors Office with Class D felony of receiving stolen property, Class E felony of unlawful use of a weapon, Class D misdemeanor of possession of intoxicating liquor by a minor, and Class D misdemeanor of driving while license was revoked. Daso is currently being held on a $20,000 cash only bond.

 

Thompson was transported to the Cape Girardeau Police Department and formally charged through the Cape Girardeau County Prosecutors Office with Class D felony of receiving stolen property, Class E felony of unlawful use of a weapon and Class D misdemeanor of possession of an intoxicating liquor by a minor. Thompson is currently being held on a $20,000 cash only bond.

 

An offense charge is merely an accusation; the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
