On May 1, 2025 at approximately 2:30pm Brooklyn Park Police responded to a report of a person in the river. Responding officers located a deceased individual near the Coon Rapids Dam.

Preliminary investigation indicates no signs of foul play. The case is being investigated by the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, and the individual is yet to be positively identified by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.
