Technological Resources Lead to Quick Arrest of Stabbing Suspect

For Immediate Release:  April 7, 2025

The Atlantic City Police Department used technological resources to quickly locate and arrest a man responsible for stabbing another.

On April 5, 2025, at 8:48 AM, patrol officers responded to the 3200 block of Fairmount Avenue in reference to a man reporting that he was bleeding after a fight.  It was later determined that he was stabbed.  The victim, 25, of Atlantic City, was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Surveillance Center personnel were able to obtain video of the assault, the suspect, and the vehicle the suspect fled in.  Officer La’Quay Green Sr utilized the department’s automated license plate reader system to learn that the vehicle had entered Atlantic City earlier in the morning on Route 30.  He positioned himself on Route 30 and at 9:25 AM, he observed the vehicle leaving the City.  He conducted a motor vehicle stop and took the suspect, Jamil Anderson into custody, and recovered a knife that was believed to be used in the attack.

ARRESTED:  Jamil Anderson, 35, of Atlantic City.

CHARGES:  Aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Anderson was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.  These charges are merely an accusation and not proof of guilt. In all criminal cases, a charged defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
