Technological Resources Lead to Quick Arrest of Stabbing Suspect

The Atlantic City Police Department used technological
resources to quickly locate and arrest a man responsible for stabbing another.
On April 5, 2025, at 8:48 AM, patrol officers responded to
the 3200 block of Fairmount Avenue in reference to a man reporting that he was
bleeding after a fight. It was later
determined that he was stabbed. The
victim, 25, of Atlantic City, was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional
Medical Center, City Division, to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Surveillance Center personnel were able to obtain video of
the assault, the suspect, and the vehicle the suspect fled in. Officer La’Quay Green Sr utilized the
department’s automated license plate reader system to learn that the vehicle
had entered Atlantic City earlier in the morning on Route 30. He positioned himself on Route 30 and at 9:25
AM, he observed the vehicle leaving the City.
He conducted a motor vehicle stop and took the suspect, Jamil Anderson
into custody, and recovered a knife that was believed to be used in the attack.
ARRESTED: Jamil
Anderson, 35, of Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Aggravated
assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an
unlawful purpose.
Anderson was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice
Facility. These charges are merely an
accusation and not proof of guilt. In all criminal cases, a charged defendant
is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
