Stabbing Suspect Arrested

For Immediate Release:  December 10, 2024

 

The Atlantic City Police Department investigated a stabbing leading to the arrest of the suspect. 

On December 2, 2024, at 8:35 AM, patrol officers responded to the 1300 block of Atlantic Avenue for a report of a man that was stabbed.  The victim, 45, of Atlantic City, was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. 

Officers were able to learn that a suspect had left the scene in a gray vehicle and obtained a photograph of the suspect taken by a concerned citizen.  Surveillance Unit personnel and detectives of the Criminal Investigations Section were able to locate video of the fleeing suspect vehicle and obtain the vehicle’s information that was distributed.

At 2:40 PM, Officer Matthew Crosby located the suspect vehicle in the 800 block of Maryland Avenue.  The suspect, Luis Martinez-Colon, exited a nearby residence and was taken into custody.

 

ARRESTED:  Luis Martinez-Colon, 30, of Atlantic City.

CHARGES:  Aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Martinez-Colon was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.  These charges are merely an accusation and not proof of guilt.  In all criminal cases, a charged defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
