Message from the Atlantic City Police Athletic League
For Immediate Release:
November 5, 2024
Atlantic City Police Athletic League (PAL), Boxing Insider
Promotions, and Tropicana Atlantic City present USA Boxing Midlantic sanctioned
“Battle at the Shore” at Tropicana Showroom Sunday, November 17.
One of the greatest things the sport of boxing can do in the
way of “giving back” is to become a vehicle for youth to learn skills and
develop into more productive people.
The PAL will be conducting its own show - and a significant
one - on Sunday, November 17, as some of the best amateur boxers in New Jersey
and beyond converge upon the showroom located in Tropicana Atlantic City on the
boardwalk (1 PM starting time).
This show is run by AC PAL and sponsored in part by Boxing
Insider Promotions in cooperation with the Attorney General’s Youth Outreach
Program for New Jersey amateur boxing. Last year the AG’s office, along with
the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board, announced a grant that went
largely to the PAL which Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin hailed as a
program that “provides opportunities for our state’s youth to learn lifelong
skills to aid their physical and mental well-being.”
Use of the venue and the championship belts were donated by
Boxing Insider Promotions and 100% of the proceeds raised will go to the
Atlantic City PAL.
Tickets for the “Battle at the Shore” are priced at $40 and
available through the PAL (609-347-5478) as well as at the door of the
Tropicana Atlantic City showroom.
Boxing Insider also made a special offer to the first 100
ticket buyers. They were able to purchase a ticket to the Battle at the Shore
and also receive a complimentary ticket to the professional event taking place
the night before (November 16) at the same venue. That card is locally produced
and internationally streamed on DAZN and features 3 Atlantic City fighters
including: Francisco “Sisco Kid” Rodriguez, who came through the Atlantic City
PAL program, unbeaten junior middleweight Justin Figueroa, and undefeated
heavyweight Bruce Seldon Jr.
“This is my home. Programs like the Atlantic City PAL give
the next generation the tools they need to succeed, and I am excited to help
with this fundraiser. We hope this is the first of many shows we can do
together to help build more positive community relations,” says Larry Goldberg,
CEO of Boxing Insider, an AC native.
Donations, above and beyond ticket sales, are always welcome,
as funds are essential to continue running a program that serves the youth of
the area.
The Atlantic City Police Athletic League is a 501(c)3
non-profit corporation (ID # 222-507-381-000).
The Executive Director of the program is Lieutenant Will
Santiago, who can be contacted at 609-233-5335. More information is available
from Coach Arnold Robbins at 609-892-1990.
