Highway 67 afternoon crash information
On 09/20/2024 at approximately 12:50 PM, the Elizabethton Police Department, Elizabethton Fire Department and Carter County Rescue Squad were dispatched to Highway 67 between the Greenlee Bridge and the Milligan Highway in reference to a motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival, it was observed that two vehicles had collided in the Westbound lanes. Due to the seriousness of the crash, the Elizabethton Police Department’s Specialized Traffic Accident Reconstruction team was activated and responded to the scene. Upon further investigation, it was determined a black Honda Pilot, driven by Christopher Derr (58 years old of Elizabethton, TN), was traveling Eastbound on Highway 67. The Honda Pilot veered off the roadway and traveled into the grassy median. The Honda Pilot traveled across the median and into the Westbound lanes of Highway 67. The Honda Pilot collided with an Audi Q8, driven by Michelle Davenport (53 years old of Johnson City, TN), which was traveling Westbound. Debris from the collision caused damage to another Westbound vehicle. Initial indication is that Mr. Derr had suffered a medical emergency prior to the collision. Mr. Derr was transported to the Johnson City Medical Center by Carter County EMS and is currently in critical condition. The investigation is currently ongoing.
