On September 5, 2024, at approximately 8:00a.m., officers from the Kokomo Police Department responded to the entrance of Riley Modern Estates, 2700 block of North Washington Street, in reference to a 3-car vehicle collision with serious bodily injury. 

The preliminary investigation revealed 32-year-old Jade A. Carlile of  Kokomo, was driving a 2019 Kia Soul.  Carlile was attempting to turn south out of the entrance of Riley Modern onto Washington Street.  A 2020 Dodge Ram driven by Nathan Gillespie of Kokomo, was traveling south on Washington Street. The Dodge Ram collided with the Kia Soul, causing the Kia Soul to spin and flip upside down in the northbound lanes. The Dodge Ram continued southbound, striking a tree and a residence.  

In the meantime, a 1997 Dodge Ram, driven by Tyler Smith of Kokomo, was traveling north on Washington Street.  The 1997 Dodge Ram attempted to avoid the Kia, but struck the overturned vehicle on the driver's side door.  The 1997 Dodge Ram continued northwest, striking the curb and came to a rest.  

St Vincent EMS and the Kokomo Fire Department arrived on scene and rendered advanced life saving measures to Carlile.   Unfortunately,  Carlile died at the scene.   A blood draw was completed on all other drivers to ensure intoxicants were not a factor in this investigation. 

This case remains under investigation.  The Indiana State Police, the Howard County Sheriff's Department, and the Howard County Coroner's Office assisted in this investigation.  An autopsy is scheduled to be completed by the Howard County's Coroner's later today.
