Six Injured After Two-Vehicle Crash

On September 3, 2024 at approximately 11:47 am, the Pelham Police and Fire Department were dispatched to the area of 59 Bridge Street for a report of a motor vehicle accident.  Upon arrival officers observed two vehicles involved with extensive damage.

There were a total of six occupants between the two vehicles all of which reported to be injured.  At this point the Pelham Fire Department requested additional ambulances to the scene.  The investigation revealed that a red 2010 Chevrolet Camaro, being operated by a Joshua Kirby-MacNeil, age 20, of Pelham, NH, was traveling northbound on Bridge Street at an extremely high rate of speed and was driving recklessly.  He then struck a gray 2013 Toyota Prius that was also traveling northbound on Bridge Street.  The impact of the collision forced the Prius off the road and into the woods.  The Prius was being operated by Peter Kalogaropoulos, age 59 of Lowell, MA.  The drivers of both vehicles were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries.  The passengers of both vehicles were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries.  The Salem & Methuen Fire Departments as well as the Pelham Highway Department assisted at the scene.

The result of the investigation determined that Joshua was impaired and driving recklessly when he caused the crash. He was charged with Aggravated Driving Under the Influence, Driving Under the Influence, Felony Reckless Conduct, Driving After Suspension, Criminal Mischief and Open Container of Alcohol. He will be arraigned at Salem District Court on September 16, 2024, at 8:00 am.  Joshua is currently out on bail for a previous Driving Under the Influence Charge.

Questions can be directed to Sgt. Matthew Keenliside at mkeenliside@pelhampolice.com. If you witnessed the accident, please contact Ofc. Dakota Clark at dclark@pelhampolice.com or (603)635-2411. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in court.
