One Arrested, One Wanted Following Search Warrant

For Immediate Release:  August 9, 2024

 

The Atlantic City Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a man wanted for various weapons and narcotics related charges.

On August 7, 2024, the Special Investigations Section concluded a two-month investigation into the distribution of narcotics from a residence in the 1500 block of Beach Avenue.

With assistance from the department’s SWAT Team, a court authorized search warrant was executed at the residence and on a vehicle.  Wilbert Deberry Jr was arrested on scene.  A wanted warrant has been issued for Joel Snyder. 

During a search of the residence and vehicle, detectives recovered four handguns, more than 15 pounds of marijuana, 23 grams of cocaine, and narcotic paraphernalia that is used in the manufacturing and distribution of narcotics.  One of the handguns had been reported stolen from North Carolina. 

The investigation was led by Detective James Barrett.

 

WANTED:  Joel Snyder, 45, of Atlantic City.

CHARGES:  Possession of CDS (two counts), possession of CDS with intent to distribute (two counts), unlawful possession of a weapon (three counts), possession of a weapon while committing a CDS offense, certain person not to possess a weapon, money laundering, maintaining a CDS production facility, possession of CDS paraphernalia, possession of a large capacity magazine, and receiving stolen property.

 

ARRESTED:  Wilbert Deberry Jr., 53, of Atlantic City.

CHARGES:  Possession of CDS (two counts), possession of CDS with intent to distribute (two counts), unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon while committing a CDS offense, certain person not to possess a weapon, money laundering, maintaining a CDS production facility, possession of CDS paraphernalia, and possession of hollow-point ammunition.

Deberry was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.  These charges are merely an accusation and not proof of guilt.  In all criminal cases, a charged defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
