Kokomo Police Officer Terminated
On July 1, 2024, Chief Douglas Stout was contacted by another law enforcement agency in reference to a criminal allegation involving a probationary officer of the Kokomo Police Department. The administration of the Kokomo Police Department immediately contacted the Indiana State Police to investigate the reported allegation. Additionally, Chief Stout and the Professional Standards Unit initiated an internal investigation.
The preliminary internal investigation revealed multiple policy violations by the probationary officer. Consequently, the probation officer, Sinmi Asomuyide, was terminated based on the policy violations alone.
On July 22, 2024, the Indiana State Police notified the Kokomo Police Department that ex-employee, Sinmi Asomuyide, was arrested on today's date based on their criminal investigation.
This case remains active for investigation. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Kokomo Police Department at (765) 456-7017. Any information received will be forwarded to the investigating agency.
