Man Arrested After Trying to Engage in Relationship with Child

For Immediate Release:  June 28, 2024

The Atlantic City Police Department arrested an adult man who attempted to lure a child and committed an act of sexual assault during two separate incidents.

On June 22, 2024, at 2:28 PM, patrol officers responded to the area of Kingston and Sunset Avenues in reference to a 13-year-old female meeting up with a 21-year-old male, Javier Erazo.  Officers located the pair and began to speak with them about their relationship.  They learned that they had recently met on social media.

An investigation conducted by detectives of the Special Victims Unit revealed that Erazo was aware of the female’s age and wanted to engage in a sexual relationship with her.  Erazo was ultimately placed in custody.

During the course of this investigation, detectives learned of another investigation where Erazo was suspected of inappropriately touching an 11-year-old female when he was 16-years-old in March 2019.  While being interviewed, Erazo made incriminating statements leading to being criminally charged in that case as well.

ARRESTED:  Javier Erazo, 21, of Pleasantville, NJ.

CHARGES:  Attempt to lure or entice a juvenile, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child (two counts).

Erazo was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.  These charges are merely an accusation and not proof of guilt.  In all criminal cases, a charged defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Atlantic City Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit at 609-347-5766 or submit a text anonymously to tip411 (847411).  Begin the text with ACPD.
