Three Arrested, Two Handguns Recovered During Investigation

For Immediate Release:  May 7, 2024

 

The Atlantic City Police Department arrested two men and a woman following an investigation into gunshots being heard.

On May 5, 2024, at 10:20 PM, patrol officers responded to the Club Wyndham Skyline Tower in the beach block of North Carolina Avenue for a report of gunshots being fired from a balcony.  An investigation into this report led the officers to a room on the 21st floor.  At this room, they encountered three occupants, Zara Griffiths, Corey Brown, and Malik Dean.  Griffiths advised officers that there was a firearm in the room and provided the location, but it was not found. 

Officer John Bell applied and was granted a court authorized search warrant for the room.  During a search, the officers located two handguns.  All three occupants were arrested.

 

ARRESTED:  Corey Brown, 42, of Chesapeake, VA.

CHARGES:  Unlawful possession of a weapon (two counts), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of hollow-point ammunition, and possession of high capacity magazine (three counts).

 

ARRESTED:  Malik Dean, 43, of Philadelphia, PA.

CHARGES:  Unlawful possession of a weapon (two counts), certain person not to possess a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of hollow-point ammunition, and possession of high capacity magazine (three counts).

 

ARRESTED:  Zara Griffiths, 41, of Paoli, PA.

CHARGES:  Unlawful possession of a weapon (two counts), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of hollow-point ammunition, and possession of high capacity magazine (three counts).

The three arrested individuals were remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.  These charges are merely an accusation and not proof of guilt.  In all criminal cases, a charged defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
