Update to Stabbing Investigation- Two Arrested
For Immediate Release:
April 26, 2024
The Atlantic City Police Department has arrested two
additional men for their role in an assault resulting in a victim being
stabbed.
On April 25, 2024, Detective Lisa Kaplin-Caldwell was
investigating an incident that occurred the day prior at the Showboat that left
a victim assaulted and stabbed. She was
able to identify Julius Reed as the suspect responsible for stabbing the
victim. Reed was found to have an active
arrest warrant issued by Camden County, NJ.
At 10:57 PM, Showboat security personnel alerted the police
department that Reed and a second suspect, Tyreke Allen-Whittaker had entered
their property. As Officers William
Harned and Julian Monsalve were responding, they were provided with updated
information that Reed and Allen-Whittaker had left. The officers located the suspects at Delaware
and Atlantic Avenues who were taken into custody without incident.
Reed was charged with stabbing the victim. Allen-Whittaker was charged with punching the
victim.
ARRESTED: Julius Reed,
19, of Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Aggravated
assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an
unlawful purpose.
Reed was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
ARRESTED: Tyreke Allen-Whittaker,
18, of Bridgeton, NJ.
CHARGES: Aggravated
assault.
Allen-Whittaker was released on a summons with a future court
date.
These charges are merely an accusation and not proof of
guilt. In all criminal cases, a charged
defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
