Investigation Underway into Stabbing, One Arrested

For Immediate Release:  April 25, 2024

 

The Atlantic City Police Department is investigating the stabbing of a man that has resulted in one arrest thus far.

On April 24, 2024, at 9:00 PM, patrol officers responded to the Showboat located in the 800 block of the Boardwalk for a report of man stabbed.  Officer Adrianna Petinga arrived and located a victim, 25, of Bronx, NY, suffering from a stab wound that was bleeding heavily.  Officer Petinga applied a tourniquet and rendered immediate aid before the victim was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, to be treated for a non-life threatening injury.

An investigation revealed that the victim became involved in an altercation with numerous suspects who assaulted him by punching, kicking, and stabbing.  Several hours after the incident, Officer William Harned arrested one of the involved suspects.  Marquise Cottman was arrested and charged with assaulting the victim by punching and kicking him.  He was also found to have an active warrant for his arrest.

 

ARRESTED:  Marquise Cottman, 20, of Millville, NJ.

CHARGES:  Aggravated assault.

Cottman was released on a summons with a future court date.
