For Immediate Release:  April 12, 2024

The Atlantic City Police Department arrested an armed juvenile male who fled from officers.

On April 9, 2024, at 3:27 PM, Detectives Christopher Dodson, Troy Grams, and Eric Evans of the Special Investigations Section were conducting surveillance in the area of Virginia and Magellan Avenues regarding a weapons investigation.  They observed the target of the investigation, a 16-year-old male, walking in the area.  As the detectives approached, the juvenile fled on foot. 

Detectives chased the juvenile who removed a satchel from around his body and discarded it before ultimately surrendering.  Detectives arrested the juvenile and recovered a loaded handgun from the satchel.

ARRESTED:  A 16-year-old male of Atlantic City.

CHARGES:  Unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of hollow-point ammunition, obstruction of justice, and resisting arrest.

The male was remanded to Harborfields Detention Facility.  The public is reminded that charges are mere allegations, and the accused is considered innocent until proven guilty.
