Search Warrant Leads to Recovery of Three Guns and Drugs

For Immediate Release: February 14, 2024

 

The Atlantic City Police Department recovered three handguns and drugs following an investigation into the distribution of drugs. 

On February 9, 2024, a narcotic investigation culminated in the court authorized search warrant of a residence in the 800 block of Mediterranean Avenue.  The search warrant was executed by members of the Atlantic City Police Department SWAT Team and Special Investigations Section.  The target of the investigation, Jamil Miller, and resident, Kameesha Coppin, were arrested inside. 

During a search, detectives located three handguns, multiple loaded handgun magazines, additional ammunition, more than seven grams of cocaine, 74 individual bags of heroin, and items used in the manufacturing and distribution of narcotics.

The four-week investigation was led by Detective James Barrett.

 

ARRESTED:  Jamil Miller, 36, of Bridgeton, NJ.

CHARGES:  Possession of CDS (two counts), possession of CDS with intent to distribute (two counts), possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone (two counts), possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public zone (two counts), maintaining a CDS production facility, possession of a weapon while committing a CDS offense (three counts), possession of hollow-point ammunition (two counts), and certain person not to possess a weapon (three counts).

 

ARRESTED:  Kameesha Coppin, 33, of Atlantic City.

CHARGES:  Possession of CDS (two counts), possession of CDS with intent to distribute (two counts), possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone (two counts), possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public zone (two counts), maintaining a CDS production facility, possession of a weapon while committing a CDS offense (three counts), and possession of hollow-point ammunition (two counts).

Miller and Coppin were remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.  The public is reminded that charges are mere allegations, and the accused is considered innocent until proven guilty.
