Tip 411 helps solve investigation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Date: January 22, 2024 Contact: Major B. Turner (252) 939-3204 On Sunday, January 21, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m., members of the Kinston Police Department were dispatched to a report of shots fired in the vicinity of 1200 E. Bright St. Kinston, N.C. Upon arrival, officers met with individuals in the area and were able to locate the initial crime scene. The initial investigation revealed that three black males were suspects in the crime. However, they were not located. Officers collected 12 spent shell casings and discovered that a nearby church had been struck by gunfire along with other property in the area. On Monday, January 22, 2024, investigators received an anonymous tip through the Tip411 App stating that the suspects involved in the shooting were at a residence on the 1200 block of E. Bright St. Investigators, along with probation officers, conducted a follow-up investigation at the residence. During that time, investigators were able to apprehend three suspects who were attempting to flee out of the rear of the residence while in possession of three firearms. A search warrant was executed on the residence, and officers located the firearms, additional spent shell casings, and marijuana.
