2024 ACPD Shop with a Cop
For Immediate Release:
December 14, 2023
This week, the Atlantic City Police Department (ACPD) held
the fourth annual “Shop with a Cop” event at the Walmart Supercenter in Egg
Harbor Township. During the four-day
event, 250 children from throughout Atlantic City were treated to a shopping
spree. The event was sponsored by Ocean
Inc. and coordinated through the department’s Neighborhood Coordination Unit
commanded by Lieutenant Wilber Santiago and the Police Athletic League.
Each day, children were paired with a police officer or
special helper to engage in conversation, have fun, and do some shopping. Santa Claus and the Grinch made special guest
appearances.
The ACPD would like to thank Atlantic City PBA Local #24,
Atlantic City Police Chaplains, the New Jersey State Police, Brigantine Police
Department, the U.S.A. Christian Chaplain Police Inc., and GMS Law for their
assistance in helping our shoppers. In
addition, we want to thank Chick-Fil-A (Fire Road, EHT) and the Salvation Army
New Jersey Division for providing food and treats that the children enjoyed
after shopping.
Lastly, a special thanks to the staff at the Walmart
Supercenter and Ocean Inc. The Walmart
staff did a phenomenal job in hosting and assisting with this event. The staff at Ocean Inc. put a lot of smiles
on a lot of faces and they will continue to provide smiles throughout this
holiday season.
“Our Shop with a Cop event gets better each year,” said Chief
James Sarkos. “It is truly a pleasure
for all of the ACPD to participate and engage not only with the youth of
Atlantic City, but so many great people whose sole goal is to bring cheer and
happiness to others during this holiday season.
We are looking forward to many more years of this great event.”
