On 07/19/23 Officers with the Andrews Police Department attempted to stop a Black in Color Passenger car registered out of Alabama. The driver of the suspect vehicle refused to stop and a pursuit ensued. The driver reached speeds over 140 mph with hazardous driving. Once sight of the vehicle was lost the area south of Andrews was searched and the suspect vehicle was located again on FM 181 headed northbound in the area of HWY 115. A pursuit ensued again with the suspect traveling northbound on FM 181 towards Gaines County. Sight was lost of the vehicle again and it was later found abandoned on HWY 62 / 180 West of Seminole Near the state line of Hobbs, New Mexico. 

The registered owner of the vehicle is Byron Anthony York B/M out of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. York shows to have multiple warrants including a violent felony for a home invasion in Alabama.  York has not been located at this time.

Due to York now not having his car, we are wanting to make the public aware of the suspect, especially in the area of Northern Andrews, Southwest Gaines, and Southeast Lea Counties.
