On December 1, 2022, a surveillance operation on Atlantic Avenue resulted in the arrest of an Atlantic City man and the recovery of a loaded handgun.

At approximately 2:37 PM, members of the Atlantic City Police Department’s Special Investigations Section conducted a surveillance operation in the area of Tennessee and Atlantic Avenues in response to complaints from the public and local business owners concerning illegal narcotics distribution and quality of life issues throughout the block.

During this operation, detectives observed an individual, Omar Morgan, engage in a suspected illegal narcotics transaction. Detectives approached Morgan and found he was holding 3 grams of suspected crack cocaine in his hand and was placed in custody without incident. A search incident to arrest yielded a loaded handgun in Morgan’s waistband. The handgun was loaded with hollow point ammunition and was determined to be stolen from the state of North Carolina. Approximately $300.00 was seized as proceeds of suspected illegal narcotics sales. Morgan was also found to be a fugitive from the State of Pennsylvania. The investigation was led by Detective Eric Evans with assistance from Detectives Chris Ivanov and Alberto Valles.

ARRESTED: Omar Morgan, 25, of Atlantic City.

CHARGES: Unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon while committing a CDS offense, possession of hollow point ammunition, possession of CDS, possession of CDS with the intent to distribute, possession of CDS with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of public building, receiving stolen property, and fugitive from justice.

Morgan was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility. The public is reminded that all charges are mere allegations, and the accused are considered innocent until proven guilty.
