Wanted Male Arrested After Fleeing from Police, Handgun Recovered
For Immediate Release: November 25, 2022.
An investigation conducted by Detectives of the
Criminal Investigations Section led to the identification and arrest of a
suspect wanted for a shooting.
On November 23, 2022, Detectives Alberto
Valles, Christian Ivanov, Christopher Dodson, and Eric Evans of the Atlantic
City Police Department’s Special Investigations Section were patrolling the
area of South Carolina and Baltic Avenues when they observed Kenneth Marlow in
the area. Detectives recognized Marlow as a male that was wanted for a shots-fired
incident that occurred several weeks ago.
As the detectives approached Marlow, he began
to run westbound through an empty lot towards Tennessee Avenue. Detectives
pursued Marlow and observed him discard a satchel before he ran into an
apartment building in the 100 block of north Tennessee Avenue, where he refused
to exit the residence.
The Atlantic City Police Department’s Emergency
Response Team, which includes SWAT, the Crisis Negotiation Team, and the Mobile
Command Post, were activated and responded to the scene. Contact with Marlow
was subsequently made by Crisis Negotiators via cellphone. After approximately
one and a half hours, negotiators were able to convince Marlow to surrender and
exit the apartment building. Marlow was then taken into custody without
incident. The satchel Marlow discarded was found to contain a loaded 9mm
handgun that was determined to be a ‘ghost gun,’ a weapon that lacks a serial
number rendering it difficult to trace.
The criminal charges stem from a shots-fired
incident that occurred on November 5, 2022. At 10:28 PM, Marlow is seen on
video surveillance firing a handgun. There were no reported injuries from the
incident. The investigation that led to the charges was conducted by Detective
Brian McKinney of the Criminal Investigations Section.
ARRESTED: Kenneth Marlow, 22, of Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Unlawful possession of a weapon,
possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, certain persons not to possess
weapons, possession of a ghost gun, resisting arrest, and obstruction.
Marlow was remanded to the Atlantic County
Justice Facility. The public is reminded that charges are mere allegations, and
the accused is considered innocent until proven guilty.
