tip411 Submission Leads to Arrest of Man and Woman, Handgun and Drugs Recovered

On October 25, 2022, a tip411 submission resulted in the
arrest of a man and a woman wanted in Pennsylvania and the recovery of a stolen
handgun and drugs.
The police department received a text on October 24, 2022, through
the tip411 anonymous reporting system, indicating a white colored vehicle with
Pennsylvania registration was carrying guns and drugs. The tipster also
indicated the occupants of the vehicle were wanted fugitives from the state of
Pennsylvania.
At 11:07 AM, Officer John Bell observed the vehicle and initiated
a car stop in the area of Missouri and Atlantic Avenues after observing the
vehicle commit a traffic violation. During the investigative detention, the
driver, Shaquir Atkinson, was found to be a wanted fugitive out of the state of
Pennsylvania at which time he was taken into custody without incident. Search
incident to arrest revealed Atkinson was in possession of 10 wax folds of
suspected heroin. The passenger, Shamauri Spruill, was also found to be a wanted
fugitive out of the state of Pennsylvania. She too, was taken into custody
without incident.
The ensuing investigation led to a search of the vehicle
where officers located a loaded handgun fitted with a high-capacity magazine.
The handgun was determined to be stolen out of the state of Pennsylvania. Suspected
crack cocaine was also located in the vehicle.
ARRESTED: Shaquir Atkinson, 29, of Philadelphia, PA.
CHARGES: Unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a
handgun during a CDS offence, possession of a stolen handgun, possession of a
high-capacity magazine, Possession of CDS (2 counts), possession with intent to
distribute CDS (2 counts), and possession of drug paraphernalia. Atkinson was
also issued several motor vehicle summonses.
ARRESTED: Shamauri Spruill, 21, of Philadelphia, PA.
CHARGES: Fugitive from Justice (2 counts).
Atkinson and Spruill were remanded to the Atlantic County
Justice Facility. All charges are mere allegations, and the accused are
considered innocent until proven guilty.
