Three Arrested, Handgun and Drugs Recovered

On August 11, 2022, members of the
Atlantic City Police Department’s Special Investigations Section conducted a
surveillance operation in the area of the first block of south Mansion Avenue. The
investigation was a result of information the detectives received concerning a
male armed with a handgun. During the surveillance operation, detectives
observed three individuals loitering in the area and taking part in several
suspected illegal narcotics transactions. One male in the group, Matthew
Freeman, matched the description of the individual that was in possession of a
handgun.
At 11:55 AM, Detectives Christian
Ivanov, Eric Evans, Alberto Valles and Nick Berardis converged on the group.
Freeman began to walk away but was quickly stopped. Detectives located crack
cocaine in his hand at which time he was placed in custody without incident.
Search incident to arrest revealed Freeman was in possession of a loaded
handgun. The second individual, Al-Tyriek Warren, was found to be in possession
of 1.9 grams of crack cocaine. The third individual, Racheal Kirkpatrick, was
found to be in possession of a small amount of crack cocaine and a glass pipe
typically used to smoke CDS. Warren and Kirkpatrick were also placed in custody
without incident.
Arrested: Matthew Freeman, 40, of
Atlantic City.
Charges: Unlawful Possession of a weapon,
certain persons not to possess a weapon, possession of CDS, and possession of
CDS paraphernalia.
ARRESTED: Al-Tyriek Warren, 33, of
Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Possession of CDS and
Possession of CDS with the intent to distribute.
ARRESTED: Racheal Kirkpatrick, 26, of
Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Possession of CDS and
possession of CDS paraphernalia.
Freeman was
remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility. Warren was issued a summons
pending a future court date but was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice
Facility after he was found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Kirkpatrick
was issued a summons pending a future court date. The public is reminded that all
charges are mere allegations and the accused are considered innocent until
proven guilty.
