On May 31, at 9:33 PM, patrol officers responded to the
first block of South Florida Avenue in reference to a report that someone was
shot. Responding officers arrived and located a male shot multiple times. The
victim, 29, of Atlantic City, was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical
Center, City Division, for treatment of his injuries. An investigation
conducted by detectives of the Violent Crimes Unit led to the identification
and charges against a 14-year-old juvenile.
On June 10, 2022, at 8:30 PM, Special Investigations Detective
Christopher Dodson observed the juvenile suspect in the first block of south
Florida in the company of a group of males. With the assistance of additional
patrol units, the officers converged on the group. Three males in the group ran
from the officers. After a short foot chase, Detective Dodson and Sergeant
Garry Stowe apprehended the 14-year-old wanted juvenile. In the immediate
vicinity of where the juvenile was apprehended, Detective Dodson located a loaded
handgun fitted with a high capacity magazine. The handgun was also determined
to be a “ghost gun”, a firearm that lacks a serial number rendering the weapon
difficult to trace. Officer Ivaylo Ivanov apprehended Genesis Silva, who was
found to be in possession of 10 grams of suspected crack cocaine, a digital
scale containing a white powdery residue, and $2,891 in US currency believed to
be proceeds from drug sales. Officers Wahab Malik and Atiqul Islam apprehended
Juan Antigua-Silva, who was found to be in possession of 24 grams of suspected
