Surveillance Center Personnel Assist in Locating Man with Gun
For Immediate Release: June 6, 2022
On June 4, 2022, Surveillance Center personnel assisted in
locating a man observed brandishing a handgun.
At 4:10 AM personnel from the Atlantic City Police
Department Surveillance Center, observed two groups of individuals in an
altercation in the area of California Avenue and the Boardwalk. During the
altercation, Surveillance Center personnel observed a male in one of the groups
brandish a handgun and point it in the direction of the other group. The groups
parted and went their separate ways. Surveillance Center personnel tracked the
group with the male in possession of the handgun, eastbound on the boardwalk and
alerted patrol officers. The group eventually exited the boardwalk at Arkansas
Avenue.
Officers Sean Pettit and Julian Cuellar responded to the
area and located the group in the beach block of Arkansas Avenue approaching
Pacific Avenue. K9 Officer Michael Braxton, and his K9 partner Ryker, arrived
as backup and assisted in stopping the males. A male in the group, Jahlil Walker,
matched the description of the suspect that brandished the handgun. Walker was
found to be in possession of a loaded handgun fitted with a high capacity
magazine and various pills. He was taken into custody without incident. Officers
also determined the handgun was a “Ghost Gun”, a firearm that lacks a serial
number rendering the weapon difficult to trace.
ARRESTED: Jahlil Walker, 22, of Vineland, NJ.
CHARGES: Unlawful possession of a weapon, possession
of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of a ‘ghost gun’, possession of
a high capacity magazine, and possession of CDS.
