Two Arrested in Shooting of Male

The Atlantic City Police Department announces the arrest of a
man and woman for their role in the shooting of a juvenile male.
On September 4, 2021 at 3:00 AM, patrol officers responded to
the first block of south Florida Avenue for a report of a male shot. Arriving officers located the victim, 17, of
Pleasantville, NJ, suffering from a gunshot wound. While providing medical attention, a loaded
handgun was located by an officer near the victim. The victim was transported to the AtlantiCare
Regional Medical Center, City Division, with non-life threatening
injuries. While being treated, he was
found in possession of 200 bags of heroin and more than seven grams of cocaine.
An investigation conducted by detectives of the Violent
Crimes Unit identified Abu Rasheed and Eva Martinez as the suspects in the
shooting. On the morning of September
10, Special Investigations Section detectives located Rasheed and Martinez exiting
an abandoned property in the 2600 block of Pacific Avenue. They were arrested without incident. Rasheed was found in possession of small
amount of cocaine.
Detectives entered the property which had been previously
declared to be inhabitable and located two handguns. All three handguns located in this
investigation will be sent to the New Jersey State Police crime laboratory for
forensic analysis before additional charges are brought.
ARRESTED: Abu Rasheed,
28, of Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Attempted
murder, aggravated assault (two counts), unlawful possession of a weapon,
possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, certain person not to possess a
weapon, conspiracy, and possession of CDS.
ARRESTED: Eva
Martinez, 29, of Egg Harbor City, NJ.
CHARGES: Aggravated
assault (two counts), unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon
for an unlawful purpose, and conspiracy.
Rasheed and Martinez were remanded to the Atlantic County
Justice Facility.
ARRESTED: A 17-year
old male from Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Two counts
each of possession of CDS and possession with intent to distribute CDS.
Male was released on a summons with a future court date.
