At 5:04 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17, officers were called to a major crash at the intersection of E. Exchange Parkway and N. Allen Heights Drive.  When they arrived, officers found a silver Nissan Altima with severe damage to the passenger side.  Inside, they located a female passenger who had died from injuries sustained in the wreck.  

It appears the silver Nissan Altima failed to yield to oncoming traffic when attempting to turn left from E. Exchange Parkway onto N. Allen Heights Drive and was struck by an oncoming 18-wheeler.  The drivers of the silver Nissan Altima and the 18-wheeler were shaken up but not injured.

The name of the victim will not be released until proper notifications can be made.  We thank the officers working diligently to process the scene to ensure these notifications can be made in a timely manner.  Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the victim's family and friends as they deal with their loss.
