Update on Assault of Atlantic City Councilman

The Atlantic City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations
Section and Violent Crimes Unit are actively investigating the assault that
occurred to MD Hossain Morshed, 4th Ward councilman for the
City of Atlantic City. Various law
enforcement partners are also assisting in the investigation.
Detectives are attempting to identify and speak with a man
and woman who are believed to have been present at the time of the assault and
left immediately after. The man is described
as Black, 35 to 40 years old, 5 feet, 5 inches tall with a beard who was
wearing a red shirt. The woman is
described as Black or Hispanic wearing a jean shirt and shorts. The pair left in a dark colored four-door
sedan traveling north on Florida Avenue from Atlantic Avenue.
Morshed was assaulted on July 15, 2021 at 10:45 pm in a
parking lot near the intersection of Florida and Atlantic Avenues. He was
transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, for
treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
