For Immediate Release:  June 16, 2021

On June 14, 2021, a juvenile male was arrested and charged with weapons and drug offenses after a family dispute led police to his residence.

At 1:57 pm, Officers Albert Herbert, Matthew Schmidt, and Cynthia Rongione responded to the first block of south Elberon Avenue in reference to a physical altercation between two brothers, 19 and 16.  Upon arrival, officers obtained information that the 16-year old was recently seen in possession of a handgun and it was believed to be in the residence.     

Detective Eric Evans of the Special Investigations Section, subsequently obtained a court authorized search warrant for the residence.  Inside officers located two handguns, a high capacity magazine, hollow point ammunition, more than five grams of cocaine, and almost two pounds of marijuana.  The juvenile male was taken into custody. 

ARRESTED:  A 16-year-old male from Atlantic City.

CHARGES:  Unlawful possession of a weapon by a minor, possession of a weapon while committing a CDS offense, possession of a “ghost gun”, possession of a high capacity magazine, possession of hollow-point ammunition, possession of CDS (two counts), possession of CDS with intent to distribute (two counts), possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone (2 counts), and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The juvenile was remanded to Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center.  Charges are mere accusations, and the accused are considered innocent until proven guilty.
