Pedestrian Struck and Killed on Atlantic Avenue

January 15, 2021
On January 13, 2021 at 4:12 pm, patrol officers responded to
Tennessee and Atlantic Avenues for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving
a pedestrian.
Officers arrived to find Jill Collette, 66, of Atlantic City
suffering from serious injuries. She was transported to the AtlantiCare
Regional Medical Center, City Division, where she was pronounced
deceased.
An initial investigation conducted by Officer Tyler Daily of
the Accident Investigations Section revealed Collette was walking across
Atlantic Avenue in the crosswalk when the traffic signal for the opposite flow
of traffic turned green. Daniel Sitarski,
69, of Brigantine, NJ, was heading westbound on Atlantic Avenue and struck
Collette. Sitarski immediately stopped
and remained on scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation with assistance
from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
