For Immediate Release:  December 30, 2020 

An investigation by detectives of the Violent Crimes Unit into the shooting of a teenager led to the arrest of two juvenile males.

On December 25 at 9:19 pm, patrol officers responded to the 1700 block of Atlantic Avenue for a report of a fight.  As officers were responding, there was a ShotSpotter alert.  Officers located a male, 17, of Vineland, NJ suffering from a gunshot wound.  The victim was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division for treatment of his non-life threatening injuries.   

An investigation by detectives led to the identification of the suspects and criminal charges being filed.  A flyer was spread department wide and within four hours both males, 15 and 16-year-old juveniles, were in custody and both located in the same block as the shooting.  Officer Jamar Dabney arrested the 16-year-old.  Officers Kevin Perez and Christian Ivanov arrested the 15-year-old who was also found in possession of cocaine.

ARRESTED:  A 16-year-old male from Atlantic City.

CHARGES:  Aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and conspiracy.

ARRESTED:  A 15-year-old male from Atlantic City.

CHARGES:  Aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, conspiracy, and possession of CDS

Both males were remanded to Harborfields Detention Facility.
