For Immediate Release:  November 16, 2020

On November 14, 2020, a call for service for a man with a gun resulted in the arrest of three and the recovery of a handgun.

At 1:26 pm, Officers Valmir Loga and Christian Ivanov responded to the 1800 block of Atlantic Avenue for a report of a man in his vehicle loading a handgun.  The 911 caller provided a detailed description of the man and the vehicle he was in.

Officers Loga and Ivanov quickly located the vehicle and observed Stephen Jenkins standing on the passenger side of the vehicle with the door open.  Jenkins matched the description from the caller of the man with the gun.  As the officers approached, Jenkins entered the car.  The officers began to give Jenkins commands to exit the vehicle, but he initially refused.  The officers continued to give commands until Jenkins surrendered.  Two other occupants, Almeen Palmer and Anastasia Santos, were removed from the vehicle and detained.

In the vehicle, officers located a handgun and ammunition on the passenger side floorboard and a small amount of marijuana.  Fourteen grams of marijuana was located in Santos’s bag. 

ARRESTED:  Stephen Jenkins, 34, of New Haven CT.

CHARGES:  Unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), and certain person not to possess a weapon.

Jenkins was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

ARRESTED:  Almeen Palmer, 43, of Atlantic City.

CHARGES:  Unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), and certain person not to possess a weapon.

ARRESTED:  Anastasia Santos, 35, of Trumball, CT.

CHARGES:  Unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of CDS.

Palmer and Santos were released on a summons with a future court date.
