Man Arrested with 500 Bags of Heroin and His Child in Car

On September 23, 2020, a man
driving with a suspended license was arrested with drugs after detectives saw
him engage in a narcotic transaction with his child in the car.
At 12:11 pm, Sergeant Charles
Stuart, Detective Alberto Valles, and Officer Chris Dodson were in the 3900
block of Crossan Avenue when the observed Robert Hart driving a vehicle. Detective Valles was aware that Hart was not
legally allowed to drive a car due to his driver’s license being suspended.
The detectives turned their vehicle
around to conduct a motor vehicle stop when they observed Hart pull to the curb
and a woman approach the vehicle. The
unknown woman and Hart engaged in a drug transaction. As Hart pulled away, the detectives attempted
to stop the vehicle, but Hart continued for several more blocks before stopping
in the 4300 block of North Drive.
The vehicle was occupied by Hart
and his two-year-old daughter. Hart was
arrested after detectives found 500 bags of heroin in the vehicle. After being arrested and walked to a waiting
patrol car, Hart began to resist entry into the car by threatening and then kicking
Officer Dodson and Detective Eric Evans.
Dodson was treated on scene by medical personnel for an injury. The child was turned over to her mother.
ARRESTED: Robert Hart,
36, of Pleasantville, NJ.
CHARGES: Possession of
a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), possession with intent to distribute
CDS, possession with intent to distribute CDS within 1,000 feet of a school
zone, money laundering, child endangerment, resisting arrest, two counts of
assault on a police officer, and several traffic summons.
Hart was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
