Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Crash with Vehicle
For Immediate Release:
August 9, 2020
On August 9, 2020 at 3:15 am, patrol officers responded to
Michigan and Atlantic Avenues for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a
pedestrian.
Officers arrived to find Thomas Kovsh, 29, of Atlantic City
suffering from serious injuries. He was
transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, where he
was pronounced deceased.
An investigation conducted by Officer Joseph Bereheiko
revealed Kovsh was walking in the eastbound lane of traffic on Atlantic Avenue
pushing a bicycle. A vehicle traveling
eastbound swerved to avoid Kovsh. Behind
that vehicle, a Toyota being driven by Murray Kanter, 24, of Ventnor, NJ,
struck Kovsh in the roadway. Kanter
immediately stopped.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
