Two Men Arrested on Boardwalk
For Immediate Release:
July 17, 2020
On July 16, 2020, two men from Philadelphia were arrested
after fighting and fleeing from officers over smoking marijuana on the
Boardwalk.
At 12:34 pm, Officers Diamond Fuentes and Sangenys
Estrella-Garcia were walking their foot post on the Boardwalk when they
observed Christian Jones and Eli Reynolds seated on a bench smoking marijuana
near North Carolina Avenue. They began
to speak with the two men who became irate.
Reynolds stood up and attempted to walk away. After being told he was under arrest,
Reynolds pulled away from Officer Fuentes and began to resist arrest. After a brief struggle, he was placed in
custody.
As the officers were arresting Reynolds, Jones fled. He was quickly apprehended by Officers Mailon
Demby and Rick Lasco as he entered a nearby parking garage. Jones, who initially provided officers with a
false name, was found to have a warrant for his arrest from Bucks County,
PA. Both men were found in possession of
a small amount of marijuana.
ARRESTED: Christian
Jones, 26, of Philadelphia, PA.
CHARGES: Fugitive of
justice, possession of CDS, obstruction of justice, and hindering apprehension.
Jones was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
ARRESTED: Eli
Reynolds, 28, of Philadelphia, PA.
CHARGES: Possession of
a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), obstruction of justice, resisting
arrest, and disorderly conduct.
Reynolds was released on a summons with a future court date.
