Man Flees From Car Stop Arrested with Handgun

On May 21, 2020, a man was arrested with a handgun in his
waistband after fleeing from a motor vehicle stop.
At 3:05 pm, Detective Christopher Smith and Officer Daniel
Arra conducted a motor vehicle stop in the 200 block of north New York Avenue
after observing the driver disregard several red traffic signals. After stopping, the driver, Jonathan Ewing,
immediately exited his vehicle and refused numerous commands to return. Ewing began to run from the officers leading
them on a foot pursuit. The officers were
able to catch and apprehend Ewing.
Ewing was found in possession of a loaded handgun in his
waistband. Officers also located
numerous prescription pills and a digital scale commonly used to weigh
narcotics. The handgun had been reported
stolen from Berkley Township, NJ.
ARRESTED: Jonathan Ewing,
a 21 year-old-man from Galloway, NJ.
CHARGES: Obstruction
of justice, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of a weapon, certain person
not to possess a weapon, receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled
dangerous substance, and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.
Ewing was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
