For Immediate Response:  April 16, 2020

On April 13, 2020, a suspect in a robbery investigation was arrested after returning to the area during a fight. 

At 11:44 am, patrol officers responded to an apartment in the 1300 block of Caspian Avenue for a report of a robbery.  The victim, a 29-year-old woman, was robbed by two men at gunpoint inside her residence.  The men, who stole money, were tracked by Surveillance Center personnel running into an adjacent building. 

Detectives of the Street Crimes Unit began to investigate and obtained photographs of the suspect, one of which was wearing a mask.  The photographs were distributed to officers. 

At 8:30 pm, patrol officers responded back to the 1300 block of Caspian Avenue for the report of a fight.  Officers were advised that one of the suspects from the robbery was present during the fight.  Officer Richard Link began to search the area and located Hiram Woods.  Woods was one of the men in the surveillance photograph and was arrested without incident.  Initially, Woods provided an alias to Officer Link, but his true identity was determined.  He was found to have an active warrant for his arrest.

Detectives are still investigating to determine the identity of the second masked suspect. 

ARRESTED:  Hiram Woods, a 22-year-old man from Atlantic City.

CHARGES:  Robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, hindering apprehension, conspiracy, violation of the emergency orders, and contempt of court.

Woods was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
