For Immediate Release:  April 10, 2020

On April 9, 2020, a man and woman were arrested after they assaulted and stabbed a man during an altercation.

At 7:16 pm, patrol officers responded to the first block of north Maryland Avenue for a report of a man stabbed.  Officers Scott Sendrick and Bryan O’Neill arrived to find a woman in the street screaming for them to stop a man that was walking away.  The officers detained the man, Dennis Hilliard, until a victim could be located.  A second woman, Gloria Ginwright, was also detained after she began to yell at officers for detaining Hilliard.    

Officers located the victim, a 58-year-old man from Atlantic City, inside an apartment building. He had been stabbed and assaulted and was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, for treatment of his injuries.  Through the officer’s investigation, they learned that Ginwright had stabbed the victim while Hilliard assaulted him.  Both were arrested.  Officers recovered the butcher knife used in the attack.

ARRESTED:  Dennis Hilliard, a 46-year-old man from Atlantic City.

CHARGES:  Aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

ARRESTED:  Gloria Ginwright, a 44-year-old woman from Atlantic City.

CHARGES:  Aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Both were remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
