Investigation UPDATE- Suspect Arrested from December 2019 Shooting

On March 4, 2020, a suspect wanted for his involvement in a December
2019 shooting that wounded a man was arrested.
Detective Christopher Smith conducted a motor vehicle stop
after seeing Anthony Hare-Jones enter a vehicle at Chelsea and Pacific Avenues. Hare-Jones was wanted following an
investigation by detectives of the Violent Crimes Unit. He was taken into custody without incident.
On December 14 at 10:39 am, patrol officers responded to
Michigan and Caspian Avenues for a ShotSpotter alert. Arriving officers located a gunshot victim, a
24-year-old man from Atlantic City. The victim was transported to
AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, for treatment. Officers were provided with a description of
a vehicle that fled the scene of the shooting.
Officer Kevin Perez, who was off-duty and had just completed his shift,
was driving on the Atlantic City Expressway when a vehicle matching that
description passed him at a high rate of speed.
Officer Perez was able to get the vehicle’s license plate, which aided
in the investigation and identification of Hare-Jones.
ARRESTED: Anthony
Hare-Jones, a 24-year-old man from Pleasantville, NJ.
CHARGES: Aggravated
assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an
unlawful purpose.
Hare-Jones was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice
Facility.
