For Immediate Release:  February 20, 2020

On February 20, 2020, a residential search warrant resulted in the arrest of a man and woman and recovery of a handgun and drugs.

Detectives of the Special Investigations Section executed a residential search warrant in the 300 block of Tennessee Avenue that was the culmination of a month-long investigation into drug distribution.  Christopher Weldon and Shanita Boyd were arrested after detectives located a loaded handgun, 40 grams of cocaine, a quantity of phencyclidine (PCP), and paraphernalia used to distribute narcotics inside the residence.

The investigation was led by Detective Darrin Lorady.

ARRESTED:  Christopher Weldon, a 33-year-old man from Atlantic City.

CHARGES:  Two counts each of possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), possession with intent to distribute CDS, possession with intent to distribute CDS within 1,000 feet of a public zone, possession with intent to distribute CDS within 500 feet of a public zone, and a single count each of unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon while committing a CDS offense, certain person not to possess a weapon, and possession of CDS paraphernalia.

ARRESTED:  Shanita Boyd, a 40-year-old woman from Atlantic City.

CHARGES:  Two counts each of possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), possession with intent to distribute CDS, possession with intent to distribute CDS within 1,000 feet of a public zone, possession with intent to distribute CDS within 500 feet of a public zone, and a single count each of unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon while committing a CDS offense, and possession of CDS paraphernalia.

Weldon and Boyd were remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
