Officer Observes Man Point Handgun, 5 Arrested, Gun Recovered

On January 5, 2020, after an officer observed a man point a
handgun at a woman, five were arrested, and the gun recovered.
At 7:59 pm, Officer Kevin Perez observed a group of men and
women in the rear parking lot of the Martinique Motel (3000 block of Pacific
Avenue) going between a motel room and a vehicle. Officer Perez saw Rumiejah Norwood brandish a
handgun and point it at one of the women in the group. The two then rushed into the motel room. Officer Perez immediately responded to the
room with other officers. Two
individuals outside were quickly detained and a perimeter established around
the room. The occupants were ordered to
exit the room. All of the occupants
complied and were detained without incident.
Norwood was arrested as well as Anthony Archetto, Simone
Gantz, Monica Hopewell, and Nimira Thomas.
All five were found to have active warrants for their arrest. Archetto was also found in possession of two
ecstasy tablets. Four others were
released on scene but face charges; Ellis Nah’Jajuan Nadir, Barry Farmer, Thomas
Benjamin, and Jeffery Robinson.
Inside the room, officers located the handgun along with
marijuana and paraphernalia used for narcotic distribution.
The below arrested individuals were remanded to the Atlantic
County Justice Facility.
ARRESTED: Rumiejah Norwood,
a 25-year-old man from Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Unlawful
possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose,
aggravated assault, certain person not to possess a weapon, possession of a
controlled dangerous substance (CDS), possession of CDS paraphernalia, and
contempt of court.
ARRESTED: Anthony Archetto,
a 37-year-old man from Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Two counts of
possession of CDS, possession of CDS paraphernalia, and contempt of court.
ARRESTED: Nimira
Thomas, a 24-year-old woman from Pleasantville, NJ.
CHARGES: Possession of
CDS, possession of CDS paraphernalia, and contempt of court.
The below individuals were released on a summons with a future
court date.
ARRESTED: Simone
Gantz, a 50-year-old woman from Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Possession of
CDS, possession of CDS paraphernalia, and contempt of court.
ARRESTED: Monica
Hopewell, a 30-year-old woman from Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Possession of
CDS, possession of CDS paraphernalia, and contempt of court.
CHARGED: Ellis Nah’Jajuan
Nadir, an 18-year-old man from Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Possession of
CDS and possession of CDS paraphernalia.
CHARGED: Barry Farmer,
27-year-old man from Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Possession of
CDS and possession of CDS paraphernalia.
CHARGED: Thomas
Benjamin, a 30-year-old man from Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Possession of
CDS and possession of CDS paraphernalia.
CHARGED: Jeffery Robinson,
a 29-year-old man from Atlantic City.

CDS and possession of CDS paraphernalia.
