*** MEDIA ADVISORY *** Yonkers Police Department to hire 27 Probationary Police Officers
Yonkers, NY – The Yonkers Police Department is pleased to announce
that a scheduled Hiring Ceremony will be held tomorrow when twenty-seven (27)
Probationary Police Officers will be sworn-in as the newest members of the
Department.
Mayor Mike Spano and Police Commissioner John J. Mueller will be
present to swear in the new recruit officers. The recruits are scheduled to
enter the Westchester County Department of Public Safety Police Academy where
they will attend Basic Recruit School, a 20-week program including courses in
police science, law, physical fitness training, and more. Upon graduation the
new officers will attend secondary and field training at the Yonkers Police
Department before being assigned to their patrol commands.
Family & friends of those being hired and members of the public
are invited to attend. A press release will be issued after the ceremony with
the names of those recognized.
