Man Sleeping in Abandoned Apartment Arrested with Loaded Handgun

On September 29, 2019, a man was arrested and a handgun
recovered after he was found sleeping in an abandoned apartment.
At 11:53 am, Officers Maria Borsani and Auttika Taing
responded to the Carolina Village Apartment in the 100 north block of North
Carolina Avenue for a report of a man sleeping in an apartment where the
tenants had recently been evicted. The
leasing company wanted the man removed from the apartment.
The officers woke Phabian Jackson as he slept. He was advised to leave the apartment, but he
had to gather his belongings. As Jackson
was tending to his dog, Officer Borsani located a loaded handgun on the couch
where Jackson had been sleeping. Jackson
was taken into custody. He was found in
possession of a cigarette that was wet from being dipped in PCP. Jackson was also found to have an active
warrant for his arrest.
ARRESTED: Phabian
Jackson, a 27-year-old man from Berlin, NJ.
CHARGES: Unlawful
possession of a weapon, certain person not to possess a weapon, and possession
of a controlled dangerous substance.
Jackson was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
