Cambridge Police Make an Arrest Following Early Morning Burglary
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – August 31, 2019 – The Cambridge Police have made an arrest following an investigation of a breaking and entering to a residence early this morning on Hunting Street in the Wellington-Harrington neighborhood of Cambridge.
Cambridge Police responded to a Hunting Street home at approximately 1:18 a.m. this morning after a resident reported they were woken by a strange male in their bedroom. Responding officers arrived within minutes and were met by several neighborhood residents, one of whom provided a description of a man running from the driveway of the Hunting Street home. Another neighbor was able to provide police with a picture from their home security surveillance system of the suspect fleeing the area.
Cambridge Police officers coordinated an extensive search and canvas of the area and were able to locate additional evidence and witnesses which led to the identification of a possible suspect. Detectives conducted additional follow-up and were able to positively identify and locate a suspect in the burglary.
The suspect – Leo Vincent Chaisson, a 25-year-old male from Brighton, MA – was arrested at 1:00 p.m. today by Cambridge Police Detectives at Cambridge Police headquarters. Chaisson will be charged with Unarmed Burglary and Larceny.
Cambridge Police credit the swift and thorough work of officers who responded to the scene initially, diligent follow-up by detectives, availability of video surveillance evidence, and especially the willing cooperation of numerous neighbors and witnesses for the prompt identification and arrest in this crime.
