Shooting Investigation Update- One Man Wanted, One Arrested

For Immediate Release:  August 19, 2019

 

The Atlantic City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect wanted for his involvement in a shooting that wounded a man.  The suspect’s co-conspirator has been arrested.

An investigation by detectives of the Violent Crimes Unit identified Jiquan Cooper and Kevin Alicea as the suspects involved in the shooting.  Cooper has not been arrested and is wanted.  Alicea was arrested on July 27 by Officer Troy Grams.

On June 7 at 11:39pm, patrol officers responded to the unit north block of Hartford Avenue for a ShotSpotter alert.  Arriving officers located a gunshot victim, 25 years old from Atlantic City.  The victim was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, for treatment of his injuries.

 

WANTED:  Jiquan Cooper, a 22-year-old man from Pleasantville, NJ.

CHARGES:  Aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

 

ARRESTED:  Kevin Alicea, a 28-year-old man from Atlantic City.

CHARGES:  Attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and conspiracy.

Alicea was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
