Information Leads to Arrest of Man with Guns and Drugs

For Immediate Release:  August 10, 2019


On August 9, 2019, a man was arrested with two handguns and an assortment of drugs.

Detective Nick Beradis of the Special Investigations Section received information regarding a man distributing heroin and in possession of a weapon.  Detective Berardis immediately began an investigation and located the suspect, Gerald Spence. 

Detectives followed Spence to Iowa and Pacific Avenues where they observed him with a large bag.  As the detectives approached, Spence had a bag of cocaine in his hand.  He was taken into custody. As the investigation continued, detectives located two loaded handguns, 1,600 bags of heroin, 38 grams of marijuana, a small amount of cocaine, and $4,323 in cash.


ARRESTED:  Gerald Spence, a 25- year old man from Atlantic City.

CHARGES:  Three counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), two counts each of unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon while committing a CDS offense, and a single count of possession with intent to distribute, possession with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone, possession with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public zone, and certain person not to possess a weapon.

Spence was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
