Juvenile Arrested with Handgun After Attempted Robbery

On June 24, 2019, a juvenile male was arrested and a handgun
recovered after he attempted to rob a man.
At 10:56 pm, patrol officers responded to the 1500 block of
Reading Avenue for a report of an attempted armed robbery. The victim, a 47 year old man from
Lindenwold, NJ, was walking when he was approached by two juveniles on
bicycles. One juvenile approached the
victim and pulled a handgun from his sweatshirt pocket. The victim managed to get away before
anything was taken.
A description of the suspect was broadcast to responding
officers. Officer Wahab Malik observed a
juvenile matching the suspect’s description at Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard
and Arctic Avenue and stopped him. The
juvenile, 16 years old from Atlantic City, was arrested after being found in
possession of a loaded handgun that was recovered from his sweatshirt
pocket.
ARRESTED: A 16-year
old male from Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Robbery,
unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful
purpose.
The juvenile was remanded to Harborfields Detention Facility.
